Maroon 5 will be getting a special honor at Teen Choice 2017 — the show’s annual Decade Award.
The award celebrates Maroon 5’s evolution over the past ten years — from the time of the band’s sophomore album and first to top the Billboard 200, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, through the band’s emergence as one of the decade’s most consistent hitmakers with smashes like “Moves Like Jagger,” “Payphone,” “One More Night” and “Sugar,” among others.
Of course the decade also saw singer Adam Levine emerge as a star in his own right thanks to his role on The Voice beginning in 2011.
The band thanked its fans in a message posted to the Maroon 5 Twitter account. “This is why we have the best fans in the world. Thanks to you all and @TeenChoiceFOX. #DecadeAward,” it read.
Teen Choice 2017 airs on Fox on Sunday, August 13 beginning at 8 p.m. ET live from the University of Southern California’s Galen Center.
